Applications must be received by January 7 for Fall admission (December 1 preferred).
We do not accept applicants for the Spring semester.

How to Apply

1. Contact Potential Faculty Advisors
   Acceptance by a faculty advisor is absolutely required; thus, it is important to make early contact with faculty that share your research interests.
2. Follow the Instructions on the University's Graduate School Admissions Page
   Students must be accepted into both the University's Graduate School as well as the Department. All application materials must be submitted to the University, which then passes the materials on to the department.

   Be sure to check the Graduate School website to ensure that you have submitted all their currently required documents.

   Specific questions pertaining to the Graduate Program in Entomology can be directed to Entomology's Graduate Director.

   Instructions for applying to the Graduate School as well as general information about the application process (including Admissions Requirements) are available on the University's Graduate School admissions page.

   Materials Required by the Graduate School
   As of Fall 2007, the Graduate School required applicants to submit:

   • Online application form
   • Application Supplemental Form (ASF)
   • Application fee ($60)
   • Complete set of transcripts
   • Three letters of recommendation
   • GRE scores
   • Maryland In-State Status form (where applicable)

   While most, if not all application materials can be submitted electronically, as of Fall 2007, the Graduate School requires that all hard-copy documents arrive in a single package.

3. Accept the Offer
   If you receive an offer letter from the department, you will need to send a letter of acceptance in response. Changes to the offer letter, including change of effective date, change of advisor, etc. require authorization by the Department.
4. Register for Classes
   Failure to register for the authorized semester voids the offer of admission.
