UM and Smithsonian Enter Into Agreement to Formally Pursue Research Collaborations
The University of Maryland and the Smithsonian Institution have
formally entered into an agreement to pursue broad research
collaborations. The agreement allows and encourages, both
institutions, its scholars, scientists and researchers to work together
to increase contributions to science and knowledge, share their
knowledge with the public, and engage in the development and education
of future generations. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was formally
signed by UM President C. D. Mote, Jr., and Smithsonian Secretary G.
Wayne Clough at a ceremony on April 8, 2009. An accompanying memorandum between the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History and the Graduate Program in Behavior, Ecology, Evolution and Systematics (BEES) at the University of Maryland was also signed to establish the Consortium for Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology.Fri, Mar 6, 2009
