Professor of Entomology
The research of Dr. St. Leger, a world leader in the study of fungi that attack insects, ranges from genomic analysis of the infection process to genetic engineering of fungus strains better at killing insect pests, such as the mosquitoes that carry malaria and a beetle that destroys coffee crops. In 2009, Dr. St. Leger won the highest award given by the Society for Invertebrate Pathology, and was named a Distinguished Scholar-Teacher at the University of Maryland.
